You will need to:
1) Book your ticket as far in advance as possible for travel to Nairobi, Kenya - www.flightdepot.ca is supposed to have the cheapest flights to Kenya
2) When you book your ticket, or *right after booking, purchase travel and medical insurance
*from Travel Guard at: 1-866-878-0191
*get the “Canada Plan” – it is the cheapest and includes medical evacuation and coverage above your provincial coverage plus trip cancellation (if purchased before or within 48 hours of ticket booking)
3) 8 weeks prior – vaccinations
You will need:
i) Hepatitis A/B shots
ii) Polio/Tetanus/Dypheria shot
iii) Typhoid shot
iv) Yellow fever shot (*with a certificate)
v) Measles, mumps, rubella shot
vi) Influenza shot
vii) Cholera oral vaccine (“Dukoral”)
viii) Anti-malarial medications (get instructions) - although there is no risk of malaria in Nairobi
4) YOU CAN GET A VISA AT THE KENYAN AIRPORT WHEN YOU ARRIVE - THERE IS NO NEED TO APPLY FOR A VISA IN ADVANCE SO FORGET WHAT I SAID EARLIER! *unless you are not a Canadian citizen
